Moms Work from Home
Moms work from home to save the economy (again)
While 60 years ago, women left the home, and entered the workforce in order to help out with the war effort and to replace income of men on the battlefields worldwide. Recently, there has been a jump in the other direction, but with a twist. More and more women are going back to the home, but this time, are reluctant or unable to leave the income and empowerment their jobs outside of the home provided them.
There are many reasons for this, and everyone has their own justification for doing so, but there no longer has to be a choice between home and carrer. Working moms work from home.
How does this equate to saving the economy? Well let me count the ways:
1. Reduced employee overhead - The cost of providing a workspace for a single employee is in the thousands of dollars per year, and that is without the added overhead of equipment.
2. Lower medical costs - When moms work from home, research shows that lowered stress levels and the ability to handle medical issues before they become a problem. Moms that work from home are more likely to get regular health checkups because they no longer have to risk employee attendance in order to go to the doctor.
3. Taxes, and unemployment or other insurance obligations- When moms work from home, many do so as business owners, and companies are able to further save on tax and insurance obligations that further burden companies.
4. Higher workplace production - Not only are they happier and healthier when moms work from home, but companies have found that the freedom and control over a home working environment allows women to more productive then in house employees.
While these company savings (and even profit increases) may not be a lot by themself, but if several thousands of moms work from home instead of in the traditional workplace are included in the figures, then these small saving add up to the hundreds of thousands of dollars needed to hire more work at home moms and turn this economy around. It wont be the first time, and it probably wont be the last time that the fairer half helps to clean up a dirty economic situation by bettering their own lives.
