Jobs from home as virtual customer assistance are being offered due to the increased need for small as well as large growing businesses to attend to all customer calls. This is a huge need because it has occurred to companies lately that many calls are missed while away from the office or shop.
The Purpose

This is particularly necessary when a customer calls after hours. This is a list of additional call center representative (virtual assistant) requirements and responsibilities:
- The person taking the calls must be able to hear and understand the customer clearly. They must also be able to communicate replies to the clearly and concisely.
- They must have the proper equipment. Usually a phone headset or computerized telephone system is needed. Sometimes a phone system is hooked to the computer from a land line.
- A strong internet connection is needed if calls must be taken online. Usually DSL, cable, or wireless is needed. Using dialup for this would be virtually impossible.
- It helps if the employee or freelance virtual assistance has had some kind of prior customer service experience. However, at least some computer knowledge of how to operate phone headsets is necessary.
- Virtual assistants are often required to work after hours. That is because they need to be available to answer the phones when a business owner or manage or receptionist is not on duty.
Responsibilities
Virtual assistants are independent contractors who work from their own home or office. They may be responsible for a multitude of responsibilities and tasks. Besides answering the phone they may also respond to e-mails, fulfill shipping orders, conduct research, plan trips, and more.
