Getting a work at home job in one day or less

How often have you heard someone say "I've been looking for a home based opportunity for years, but haven't found one yet?" 9 times out of 10 (or even more), that person has seen hundreds of viable work at home job opportunities but simply was not ready to take the leap into business ownership. Fear and failure go hand in hand, and with today's technology at your fingertips, finding a plethora of information on starting a business out of your own home is no further away than a mouse click.

With telecommuting and home based hiring at an all time high, even (especially) during a shrinking economy, some of the largest household names are now looking for employees and business partners who wish to work from the comfort of their own home. Home workers are more productive, have lower injury figures, require fewer in-house (theirs not yours) resources, and of course decrease the need for direct supervision. In short, home workers cost less money and produce at higher rates.

With the myth of scarcity put to rest, how do you go about getting a work at home job, while people everywhere seem to be finding it harder to find work at all. Here it is, in 5 steps.

1- Own a computer and the fastest Internet connection you can afford. Most companies that allow you to work from home will require contact to be made electronically. This may involve the simplest of tasks such as emailing completed documents, or require more technologically advanced involvement, such as live conferencing with partners and clients. Without a computer, and the basic knowledge of how to use it, getting a job even down the street with your local grocery is getting harder to come by.

2- Search the Internet - While there might be a lot of information out there on line, the best advice in filtering through it would be to seek out the advice of other work at home enthusiasts. A good place to start would be work at home job forums and blogs. Pay special attention to the visitor comments and personal experiences of the people who currently have a work at home job. They can often help you to decide which kind of work at home job would be best for you.

3- Be able to send and recieve money on line.- Whether you are planning on creating your own company or freelance service, or wish to work for one of the many work at home companies that are on the Internet, there is one thing that they all have in common, money needs to change hands over the network.

Some companies will allow you to do business with an online payment system, such as PayPal of MoneyBookers, while others will require you to have a bank account that they can electronically send your funds to. Do not be alarmed if a company explicitly requires you to have a direct deposit account, as this is standard for a stay at home job, even off line. If you are worried about your personal bank account information being passed over the Internet, then establish a seperate business account specifically for your work at home job. It is wise to keep your business and personal accounting apart from each other for tax and organizational reasons anyway.

With these basis covered, and your personal and professional skills, even if basic, you should be able to find a work at home job in one day or less.
