How to Recognize Work-From-Home Scams
How to avoid work at home scams
When trying to find out which business model is right for you, you will undoubtedly come across many offers that are outright work at home scams. While you can never really know everything there is to know about an opportunity or completely eliminate the risk involved in starting your own work at home business, there are a few things that you can do to to protect yourself from the obvious offenders.
1- Do not respond to offers that concentrate on your desparation. The general fodder for the work at home scam crowd is the desparate person. This also goes for the information that you give while in your search. If you appear desparate, then you have set the most attractive bait for the work at home scam artist.
2- Don't believe the hype. When overlooking a work at home opportunity, just like any other business opportunity, understand that the copy in front of you was meant to entice. The examples that they give will of course be the best results experienced with their system, and will not be average results. That does not mean that every opportunity that says you will get rich is a work at home scam, but common sense should rule your judgement and not emotion.
3- Trust the names you already trust. If a company is one that you already are familiar with, or work with companies that you trust, then the likelihood of work at home scams is diminished. That is not to say that people will not simply throw household names at you to build trust, they will, but most companies are quick to condemn and protect their good name from unscrupulous business use.
4- Look for a way to get your money back. While the money that you spend, if any, should be looked at as an investment, with risks involved, most reputable companies will offer to let you try their services on a trial basis, or even offer a full money back gaurantee if you are not satisfied with the product after use. I there is simply a request for money, with no stated specific goal for the products use, and no way to discontinue or refund your money in any way, then it would be safer to consider such offers as work at home scams, and continue to research other options.
