Working from Home
Working from Home can allow you the freedom to make an income while enjoying all of the benefits that come with a home based work environment. But in order to succeed, you must be productive and focused. When you work for yourself, there is nobody looking over your shoulder to make sure that your "work" gets done right, or even done at all. Many of us started working from home for this very reason. Don't let it be your downfall. Increase productivity, and thus your profits, by following a few simple rules.
1. Know that the buck stops here - Self responsibility is key. Stay on schedule and keeping track of your progress. Whether you use a pencil and paper or your favorite software solution, tacking every step that you make, or need to make, will help keep you and your business on track. After all, if you don't who will?
2. Keep a proper workspace. Keeping a work area that is work centric that still promotes creativity is essential. Is it cluttered with pizza boxes and non-work related distractions? Even the computer screen in front of you needs managing and control. What is on your screen right now? Will it help you achieve your goals, or is it filled with the latest youtube music videos or the favorite cubicle escape ever created, Solitaire?
3. Never stop learning. The only thing constant is change. Technologies, strategies, and movement within your chosen industry will never be the same. I guarantee it. Seek information, expert opinions, trends, and new ways of doing business whenever you can. If you stop learning, you will stop earning.
4. Do what makes Cents. When working from home, having a to-do list is not enough. For every action to plan to do, there should be a valid reason for that action. Planning your actions based on the bottom line, in terms of money, time management, or freedom offered, can help you toward the home business of your dreams, versus simply becoming the hardest job you ever had.
5. Motivation. Never giving up is very important. If you give up you are finished. If you have no motivation to keep going then you will most likely give up and stop working. Setting goals is usually the best way to keep not only on task, but motivated. What are YOU are going to get out of completing the task? Focusing on your wants and needs could save your business (without forgetting about the customer of course).
Following these 5 simple tips, working from home can be a very fruitful, enjoyable, and profitable experience.
